SAN ANTONIO – A status hearing is scheduled today for Stephen Clare, the man accused of attacking his family and killing his 11-month-old daughter back in 2023.

Clare’s trial, originally set to begin on Sept. 5, was delayed, and the hearing will address when the case may move forward.

The deadly incident happened Apr. 11, 2023 when police said Clare shot his ex-wife and stabbed his two infant daughters. His 11-month-old daughter Willow died.

Investigators said Clare, 50, was arguing with his ex-wife about a gun he was carrying that belonged to his wife. According to the arrest report, the home surveillance video then shows Clare chasing his ex-wife around the house with a gun.

Two older boys, ages 8 and 11, escaped unharmed.

As of February 2024, the State of Texas announced it will seek the death penalty in what prosecutors are calling a brutal case of domestic abuse.
